Rock’n’Roll spoken here!
April has arrived with Spring. The weather is starting to change and getting warmer. There are 3 things that are the most important to remember about this month. The 1st thing is the Aries Stellium with 6 planets—Sun, Moon, Mercury, Mars, Saturn, and Neptune all in Aries, the 1st sign of the zodiac. If things are feeling a bit intense, that’s one of the reasons. #2 is Mars entering Aries where it is the ruler of the sign. Mars, the god of war, is intense. Use this energy to move things forward. The 3rd and final thing, and probably the most important, is when Uranus enters Gemini. The last time this occurred was 1941. Needless to say, it’s a really big deal. Uranius is the disrupter and Gemini is communication. Uranus will knock down walls to clear the space. So whatever is outdated is going to be blown away. We need to get ourselves together, clean house and get ready to ROCK!!
NEW NEWS…
The On E Street Remix EP has been released and it’s been a very exciting and busy April so far. The critical response has been overwhelming and we feel very grateful that the reviewers have picked up on the real purpose of the release, which was to finally mix these tracks and present them in the best sounding way possible. We got to make the record we always wanted to and show Max & Garry in a different light, away from the E Street glare. The Hard Enough (Remix) single did its job setting up the release of the EP with a good deal of radio airplay and YouTube viewings. Coming up, DownTown Mystic will be featured on the cover of the April issue of JamSphere Magazine, which is very cool!! We’ve also got a bunch of interviews to do and the reviews keep coming. We’re going to post one of them to show how in-depth the reviewers have been. This review is from Thoughts Words Actions by Djordje Miladinović. It pretty much says it all:
If you paid close attention to what’s happening on the contemporary music scene, then you probably noticed that many artists and bands deliver excellent releases, making the scene thrive like never before. However, it seems that many of them experiment too much by stacking so many genres and elements into their music, losing the true essence of their sound over the years. You’ve probably noticed that you can’t find a good, old, traditional American rock ‘n roll anymore, or if it exists, it exists somewhere deeply in the underground, far away from the media. Thankfully, there are music outlets like DownTown Mystic who remain true to the roots. Helmed by Robert Allen, a highly experienced songwriter, producer, and musician, this exceptional music project shines with everything you ever needed from traditional rock ‘n roll music yet infuses some modern production techniques and approaches for that contemporary sound. His latest piece of work, “On E Street Remix,” carries all the fundamental elements of the mentioned music genre, but do not be surprised if you stumble upon some of the finest properties borrowed from Americana, garage, hard rock, alternative, indie, and power pop. He incorporated these additional sonic ingredients as more than necessary enhancements, accentuations, decorations, and other details to uplift the entire material to an entirely new level, while simultaneously remaining loyal to the primary sonic direction. Lyrically, “On E Street Remix” explores various sentiments, moods, situations, and circumstances, making this material a highly relatable piece that will unquestionably appeal to a broader audience. Throughout the entire extended play, you’ll notice how sharp lyricism and impressive musicianship collide harmoniously, making “On E Street Remix” a wondrous mixture of roots, tradition, and innovation. It’s definitely one of those recordings you’ll spin over and over again.
Recorded around the same time as “Born In The USA,” this material also includes the rhythm section from Bruce Springsteen’s legendary E Street Band , drummer “Mighty” Max Weinberg & bassist Garry Tallent. These song packs evoke nostalgia, but DownTown Mystic remastered them for these modern times, making them sound like they were recorded yesterday. If you pay close attention, you’ll notice that Robert Allen paid a lot of attention while writing, composing, arranging, and producing these songs, thinking about every vocal harmony, sonic, and rhythmic maneuver. Each composition arrives with a perfect structure, decorated with many profoundly detailed segments, brilliant ideas, and marvelous musicianship. This epic sonic journey commences with “Way To Know,” a thought-provoking song that immediately wraps around your listening apparatus and refuses to let go long after the last notes and beats fade. Serving as a beautiful introduction, this composition includes Allen’s soulful, passionate, confident, emotive, and powerful vocal performance, which serves as a centerpiece. He commands attention, elevating everything to new heights, and guides the listener on an epic journey through the expansive sonic universe. Each vocal line seamlessly balances low, mid, and high notes, emphasizing all the instrumentation included within the song. In the meantime, the guitars shine in all their glory. The tastefully distorted guitar riffs and slide guitar accentuations shape a perfect backdrop for all the vocals to shine upon, while the intricate, warm, vividly hearable basslines add more than necessary groove and depth. The flawlessly performed drumbeats hold everything together while adding more detail, groove, and dynamics. It’s a pure rock ‘n roll anthem that will immediately resonate with the crowd. “And You Know Why” calms things down a little bit. It’s a meaningful love ballad where arpeggiated chord progressions, catchy themes, marvelous melodies, and captivating harmonies shine. It’s nearly mind-blowing how all those guitar layers articulate together without overwhelming each other, proving that DownTown Mystic thought about everything while arranging this piece. Allen’s voice perfectly paired with additional vocal layers, back vocals, and sing-alongs, making this song as anthemic as possible. With all these vocal maneuvers, “And You Know Why” carries that recognizable, irresistible eighties rock quality. The rhythm section brings more detail through beautiful low-ends and moderate rhythmic patterns, but without overwhelming the guitars. It keeps the entire song grounded and calm, just like a rock ballad should sound.
“Hard Enough” is another danceable rock ‘n roll anthem where the guitars deliver those beautiful, tastefully distorted themes, melodies, chord progressions, and riffs; a comprehensive collection of catchy vocal lines, back vocals, and singalongs; vividly hearable basslines that offer more than necessary heaviness, clarity, and depth while simultaneously blending mentioned instrumentations with rhythmic patterns; and skillfully performed, well-accentuated, energetic beats, fills, and accentuations. This composition packs enough rawness, abrasiveness, and that irresistible rock ‘n roll energy, but deep down it also carries soft, calm, mellow melodies, harmonies, and other sonic maneuvers that make the greatest songs so catchy and memorable. The same goes for “Sometimes Wrong,” a song that carries nearly all the qualities like “Hard Enough,” but besides being even more raw, aggressive, and garage-rock sounding, it also shines with beautiful synth leads and jangly, angular chord progressions. It’s one of the standouts of this material that definitely deserves your utmost attention. Alongside these four compositions, DownTown Mystic also included instrumental TV mixes of “And You Know Why” and “Way To Know,” nice additions that definitely sound equally good as the original versions with vocals. When you take a listen to the entire material, you realize how much time, effort, heart, and soul Robert Allen has poured into this material. With the tremendous help of “Mighty” Max Weinberg & bassist Garry Tallent, he crafted rock ‘n roll anthems that will stay relevant for ages. Each composition included on “On E Street Remix” can be considered a timeless classic. DownTown Mystic’s experience, knowledge, skills, creativity, and talent shine through each vocal harmony and chord progression, proving that there is still a place for traditional rock ‘n roll on a contemporary music scene. If you love rock music soulful, hearty, and powerful, “On E Street Remix” will be right up your alley. Do not miss it!

The Hard Enough (Remix) single had a great run at Radio overseas and here in the USA. The single has become DownTown Mystic’s best release to date at College Radio! Shout out to Brandon Day/Tinderbox Music and his team for a job well done!! The single did its job setting up the release of the On E Street Remix EP, which is at worldwide Radio right now and has had probably the best 1st week ever for a DownTown Mystic release. The On E Street Remix EP was #1 in Streams & Downloads on the Play MPE Weekly Latin America and Nordics Charts! PlayMPE is one of the top Digital Radio platforms, so this a very big deal for a small Indie Artist! 🙂

March came in with 2 feet of snow! It also started with the Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Virgo!! Lunar eclipses bring endings, results, and wake up calls. In Virgo, this can highlight work, health, routines, and unfinished tasks. These effects can be felt for the next 6 months. Mid-month the planet of good luck, Jupiter, goes direct in Cancer. This should start moving things forward as we reach the New Moon in Pisces, right before the Spring Equinox. Winter will finally be over as well as the Mercury Retrograde!! The Spring Equinox ushers in Aries Season, which is the astrological New Year. This one is even more important because of the Saturn-Neptune conjunction. The world is being asked to build a new reality out of the mist. Are you up for it? Time to ROCK!!

Sha-La Music announces the release of the On E Street Remix EP by US Roots Rocker DownTown Mystic on April 3. The EP features the Rock’n’Roll Hall of Fame rhythm section from Bruce Springsteen’s legendary E Street Band—drummer “Mighty” Max Weinberg & bassist Garry Tallent. The On E Street Remix EP will be distributed worldwide by The Orchard/Sony Music and drops at Non-Com/College Radio on April 7 with Brandon Day/Tinderbox Music on radio promotion.
The On E Street Remix EP contains 6 tracks, including the thought-provoking Way To Know , the emotionally intense And You Know Why and the current single rocker Hard Enough. The single has been receiving substantial airplay on Worldwide Radio and the Hard Enough video has surpassed 550,000 views on YouTube. Also included is the explosive Sometimes Wrong, remastered by Leon Zervos (Pink, Crowded House) and the never heard before instrumental And You Know Why (TV Mix). What makes the release extra special is Max & Garry recording together as the rhythm section for an artist other than Bruce Springsteen, a true rarity.
The backstory also adds depth to the release. Recorded during the same period Weinberg and Tallent were shaping one of the most influential albums in rock history, Born In The USA, the On E Street Remix EP carries an unspoken historical weight. DownTown Mystic writer/producer Robert Allen and Engineer Joe DeMaio revisited a pivotal moment in Robert’s career, remixing the tracks at Shorefire Studios, where they were originally recorded. Robert recalls, “I was trying to develop as a solo artist when we made these recordings. The experience of playing with Max & Garry changed everything for me.” Robert’s main goal for the EP was to give the tracks a fresh sound and showcase the brilliance of the 2 E Streeters.
The On E Street Remix EP comes at a time when DownTown Mystic has been on a roll with a string of releases that bring an old school sound to modern day Rock. His motto “vintage yet modern” is creating awareness for his brand of rock’n’roll and gaining respect in music circles. The artist’s creative roll began in 2023 with the AmeriKarma album, which attracted a larger audience with over 3 million streams, followed by RnR 4 The Soul (2024), The Wish (2025) and Mystic Highway (2025). Music Supervisors discovered the artist’s music with Way To Know launching a stellar sync-licensing career, with over 250 TV shows, starting with The Voice. Sync-licensing success reached a high point in 2025 with 3 songs placed in 2 star-filled movies.
The new EP should also help solidify DTM’s critical success. Robert adds, “If you want to make a RnR statement then who better to do it with? I think E Street is probably the most famous street in RnR history.” Take a walk on it now.

February is here, the midpoint between Winter & Spring! The big planetary news is the Neptune-Saturn conjunction in Aries, which occurs right after the Chinese New Year. This is the Year of the Fire Horse! There’s also a new moon in Aquarius occurring, but not just an ordinary new moon. This one is also a Solar Eclipse, the 1st of the year! This is significant in a number of ways. Aquarius rules the collective and this eclipse is about the restoration of humanity. The collective will become more aware of what is going on. New ideas will replace outdated ways of thinking. It’s a great time for self-expression. Right after the new moon is the aforementioned Neptune-Saturn conjunction in Aries. This is going to be huge! This will be the 1st time these planets have met in Aries since 1702!! This is a BIG EVENT—a once in a lifetime event!!! Abstract ideas and dreams will be transformed into concrete structures. Good for initiating new long-term structures in our lives. Time To Rock!!
NEW NEWS…
2026 is off to a rocking start with the release of the Hard Enough (Remix) single, which features The E Street Band’s Max Weinberg & Garry Tallent. The critics are weighing in and giving the single high marks with some great reviews. Radio is responding in the US as well as overseas. The single is the 1st release from the upcoming On E Street Remix EP, due out on April 3. The project was remixed this past summer at Shorefire Studios, along with some additional recording to freshen up the release. The sound has been improved thanks to engineer Joe DeMaio, who did a great job on the remixes.

Worldwide Radio is rockin’ with the Hard Enough (Remix) single. The Mystic Highway release did much better than expected and has been a great lead-in for the new single. The award-winning station, Radio Jupiter in the UK, has added the single to its premium playlist, making Hard Enough (Remix) the 9th single to make their playlist! The single also made the Top 10 on AirPlayDirect’s Top 50 Rock/AAA Chart last month, along with 3 other DTM albums!!

The Mystic Highway EP has been a surprise hit with over 500,000 streams. The release was a pleasant surprise. The Hard Enough (Remix) single is also off to a great start with over 40,000 listeners streaming it, and the Somebody’s Always Doin’ Something 2 Somebody single continues to rock with over 80,000 streams!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!! 2026 has arrived with a new vibration. 2026 is a “1” year and that means new beginnings. A 9-year cycle has ended and it’s a good time to take some time in January to think about what we want to do this year. January opens with a Super Full Moon in Cancer, also called the Wolf Moon. This full moon will ignite emotions and a sense of nostalgia. A good time to stay home and take stock of our feelings about the relationships in our lives. New energy comes to January. Mid-month Venus moves into Aquarius with a New Moon in Capricorn, just as Aquarius Season begins. At the same time Mercury & Mars move into Aquarius and it’s time to think outside the box. Think of 2026 as a new chapter and a new cycle of growth. Time To Rock!!
NEW NEWS…
2025 was a rocking year and ended on a high note. This year’s Holiday release, the Mystic Highway EP, received rave reviews from rock critics heaping on praise for revitalizing the genre of RnR. Very cool!! It was released a month after the Somebody’s Always Doin’ Something 2 Somebody single, which really got the ball rolling. DTM heads into 2026 with a full head of steam. There’s a cool interview in LVM Exclusive to start off the year. We talked about The Wish album, which was released earlier in the year. Next up is the release of the Hard Enough (Remix) single on January 23, the 1st release from the On E Street Remix project featuring Max Weinberg & Garry Tallent from The E Street Band. We went back to the scene of the crime, Shorefire Studios, where the songs were all recorded and remixed them. It was fun to go back and hear the individual tracks again! Special thanks to Joe DeMaio for his excellent work in bringing the tracks back to life sonically. We’re very excited about this release and you can read all about it. Sha-La Music announces the release of the Hard Enough (Remix) Single by US Roots Rocker DownTown Mystic on January 23. The single features the Rock’n’Roll Hall of Fame rhythm section from Bruce Springsteen’s legendary E Street Band—drummer “Mighty” Max Weinberg & bassist Garry Tallent. The single is the 1st release from the upcoming On E Street Remix project and will be distributed worldwide by The Orchard/Sony Music. The single drops at Non-Com/College Radio on January 20 with Brandon Day/Tinderbox Music handling radio promotion.
The Hard Enough (Remix) single contains 2 tracks, including the never heard before instrumental track (TV Mix), and is being released ahead of the On E Street Remix EP. It’s a showcase for DownTown’s motto, “vintage yet modern”, thanks to the “old school” rock’n’roll vibe it gets courtesy of the 2 E Streeters. It’s part of DownTown Mystic’s mission to bring the art of rock’n’roll back to the contemporary music scene. Hard Enough (Remix) has a classic Rolling Stones sound with Max channeling Charlie Watts on drums while Garry offers a bass line reminiscent of Springsteen’s Ramrod. The lyrics fit perfectly with the modern-day women showcasing their assets on Tik Tok and Instagram.
DownTown Mystic writer/producer Robert Allen remixed the tracks with Engineer Joe DeMaio at Shorefire Studios, where they were originally recorded, to unveil them in a new light to a new audience. Over the years, these songs and the recording sessions have taken on a somewhat historical significance for DTM. At the time these sessions took place, Max & Garry were recording what would become the biggest album of Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band’s careers—Born In The USA. Robert explains, “When we cut the track for Hard Enough, Max & Garry were still recording the album with Bruce. Having the chance to play and record my songs with them at that point in time was amazing.” Robert adds, “The rhythm section is the engine that drives a band. I think Max and Garry are one of the best RnR rhythm sections the USA has ever produced.”
2025 was another banner year for DownTown Mystic. The year started with the adventurous One More Chance single ahead of the highly successful album, The Wish, and ended with rock critics celebrating the RnR epic Mystic Highway EP. The Somebody’s Always Doin’ Something 2 Somebody single was a surprise hit, released ahead of the EP. In between, the artist continued to have sync-licensing success, landing 3 songs in 2 movies—Everything’s Going to Be Great starring Bryan Cranston & Allison Janney and Sovereign with Dennis Quaid & Nick Offerman. 2026 looks like another rocking year, starting with the On E Street Remix. The year at Radio starts off on a sad note. Long-time radio promo bud, Stephen Foster/ Stephen’s Indie Picks has passed on to that big station in the sky. Stephen promoted the Somebody’s Always Doin’ Something 2 Somebody single in October and passed a month later. Stephen was going to promote the new Hard Enough (Remix) single. He promoted DTM music to Radio for the past 12 years. Our deepest condolences go out to his wife Trish and their family. RIP Stephen. You will be greatly missed by all who knew and worked with you.

The final month of 2025 is here! Where did the year go? December has arrived with powerful emotions and transformative energy. The month opens with a Full Moon in Gemini. The last full moon of the year. It will stir creative and romantic passions, hidden desires and untapped potential. Mercury is finally direct and trines Jupiter and Saturn. This is great for all forms of communication that can open doors. Then Neptune goes Direct, clearing up confusion around money and long-term goals. A week later, the last new moon of the year arrives in Sagittarius, opening up opportunities for expansion and reconnecting with your larger purpose. Up next is the Winter Solstice and Capricorn Season, as the Xmas Holidays begin and Santa’s got a brand new bag. This month ROCKS!! Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!!

It was released a month after the Somebody’s Always Doin’ Something 2 Somebody single, which really got the ball rolling. The single has also gotten great reviews as well as strong radio play and a video with over 140,000 views on YouTube. Speaking of YouTube, the only live performance of DownTown Mystic on video (Modern Ways from Mystic Highway) was premiered on Thanksgiving. The performance features Steve Holley on drums and Paul Page on bass with guitar greats Lance Doss and Justin “JJ” Jordan. Check it out!! Coming in 2026 is the On E Street Remix project featuring Max Weinberg & Garry Tallent from The E Street Band. We went back to the scene of the crime, in Shorefire Studios where the songs were all recorded, and remixed them for this project. November has arrived with the full Beaver Moon in Taurus, which will be the biggest and brightest super moon of the year! A few days later, Uranus, Mercury and Jupiter all go retrograde. It’s a good time to recalibrate and reflect from the chaos over the past few months. There’s a New Moon in Scorpio, which encourages us to move out of our comfort zones and welcome new ways to heal and transform. Thanksgiving arrives in the US at the end of the month, a few days before the end of the Mercury Retrograde, ushering in the Holiday Season. Happy Thanksgiving!

The single was released a month ahead of the Mystic Highway EP, which comes out on November 7 in time for the holidays. The EP has 6 tracks, including the single as a bonus track. The EP features Steve Holley on drums and Paul Page on bass with great guitar guest players Lance Doss, Bruce Engler and Justin “JJ” Jordan. Mystic Highway definitely rocks, so check it out!!

October and the Fall season are here. Halloween is coming. The month starts with the Full Moon in Aries. This is the Harvest Moon and a super moon because it’s close to Earth and will look huge. Full moons are about culmination and this one had a bit more intensity because of Aries. Tap into your strength when the need arises. Mid-month Pluto goes direct in Aquarius, helping all of us to move forward. A week later, there’s a New Moon in Libra as Scorpio Season begins. Set your intentions with confidence. The single hit College Radio this week and features ace keyboard wiz Jeff Levine working his magic on Moog, B-3 Organ and Piano, along with the elite rhythm section of Steve Holley on drums and Paul Page on bass. The single is also the bonus track on the upcoming Mystic Highway EP coming out on November 7. This is 1 rocking EP featuring some great guitar players like Lance Doss, Bruce Engler and Justin “JJ” Jordan, so check it out!!

The Somebody’s Always Doin’ Something 2 Somebody single was released on September 24 to Worldwide Radio via Stephen’s Indie Picks. Over 50 stations are playing it out of the box in Europe. The single was released at Non-Com/College Radio in the USA on October 7 with Brandon Day/Tinderbox Music doing radio promotion. The new single will try to pick up where The Wish album and single, released in April, left off. The album rocked in the US, picking up over 120 Non-com stations and had 5 singles selected for the premium playlist on Radio Jupiter in the UK. The album also reached #1 on the AirPlay Direct Global Top 50 Rock/AAA Chart inJuly, 4 months after release!!
STREAMING…
The Wish had over 1 million streams this year but it’s sync-licensing that was really rocking! DTM had 3 songs place in 2 movies this year!! Our good bud Eddie Caldwell/Music of The Sea placed 2 songs in Everything’s Going To Be Great starring Bryan Cranston & Allison Janney and 1 song in Sovereign with Dennis Quaid & Nick Offerman. September has arrived and summer is at an end. It’s back to school time as well as Eclipse Season, starting with a Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Pisces to start the month! Eclipses can bring fateful changes and surprises, so be prepared. It’s a good idea to lay low and rest if possible in the days surrounding an eclipse. This eclipse will be potent because it takes place in the North Node of the Moon, so things could get intense. Expect unexpected emotions to suddenly rise up. If they do, just go with the flow of tears that will most likely follow. Later in the month summer is officially over with the Autumnal Equinox. At the same time we enter Libra Season, along with a New Moon Solar Eclipse! We all could be in for a wild ride, so try to chill as much as possible.

Time To Rock! If you happened to read last month’s newsletter, there was a bunch of news about what was coming up in the fall. Most of it has been changed! LOL Sorry about that! Let’s try this again. DownTown Mystic has 2 releases coming in October and November. The next single will be Somebody’s Always Doin’ Something 2 Somebody and it will be released on October 10. The Mystic Highway EP will be released on November 7, and it includes the single Somebody’s Always Doin’ Something 2 Somebody as a bonus track. 1 thing for sure about this EP is that it ROCKS!! One of the main reason it ROCKS is the Mystic Highway EP features some great guitar players like Lance Doss, Bruce Engler and Justin “JJ” Jordan, so check it out!! Meanwhile, the On E Street Remix project will be released in 2026. The On E Street Remix project features the RnR Hall of Famers Max Weinberg and Garry Tallent of the E Street Band. The single will be released to US Radio on October 7 and Streaming on October 10. The new video for Somebody’s Always Doin’ Something 2 Somebody is the 1st AI video created by Richard Levinsohn/Rick Lee Vinson Group for DTM. The new EP, Mystic Highway, will be released to all streaming services worldwide via The Orchard/Sony Music on November 7 in time for the Holiday season.
Mystic Highway contains 6 songs, including thebonus track Somebody’s Always Doin’ Something 2 Somebody single, featuring keyboard wiz Jeff Levine on Moog, piano & organ. The EP continues DownTown Mystic’s pursuit of releasing high quality rock’n’roll in the 21st Century. DTM writer/producer Robert Allen comments, “One of the main features of the DownTown Mystic project is the musicians that are involved and the talents they bring to it.” Robert continues, “The best piece of advice I ever got was if I wanted to have a great band, then I should be the worst player in it. Upon reflection, I realized that would be one rockin’ band! lol” To that end, the EP has the elite rhythm section of drummer Steve Holley and bassist Paul Page, who hold down the groove on 5 of the 6 songs.
Guitars are the main feature of DownTown Mystic and Mystic Highway is no exception. Ace guitarists Lance Doss, Bruce Engler and Justin “JJ” Jordan bring their talents to the mix of straight-ahead rockers. Lance Doss takes on the task of adding his southern edge to the classic RnR of History and Modern Ways. Long-time contributor Bruce Engler co-wrote and sings on Read The Signs, a RnR raga of mystical dimensions, which is also included on his One More Chance album featuring DTM. Justin Jordan adds delicate guitar lines and emotional mandolin on the big production piece Some Day. In fact, Justin and Lance along with Steve Holley and Paul Page have a cool RnR side project called The Sidney Green Street Band. Check these guys out!
Sync-Licensing, Streaming and Critical success brought more attention to DownTown Mystic in 2025. Along with significant international radio airplay for The Wish album, DownTown Mystic continues to be a top sync-licensed artist with music in over 250 TV shows and films. 2025 was a big year with 3 songs sync-licensed in movie soundtracks—2 songs in Everything’s Going to Be Great starring Bryan Cranston & Allison Janney, and 1 in Sovereign with Dennis Quaid & Nick Offerman.
2026 promises to be another rocking year for DownTown Mystic, starting with the On E Street Remix project in January. An album is planned with remixes of tracks recorded with the 2 musicians who gave the DTM project instant credibility—Max Weinberg & Garry Tallent, drummer and bassist for Bruce Springsteen’s RnR Hall of Fame E Street Band.
