May will be a rockin’ month! May Day, Cinco de Mayo and Mother’s Day are just part of the package in May. The Mercury Retrograde is finally over as the planet of expansion, Jupiter, moved into Taurus. This is a welcome change after the energies we’ve been dealing with over the last month. Jupiter will conjunct Uranus in Taurus for the first time since 1941! This makes it one of the most important transits of the year. Jupiter will help with professional and career goals, and with Pluto going retrograde in Aquarius, the energy will be favorable for going inward and looking at what we’re doing. A new moon in Taurus gives us a green light to focus on our goals and new opportunities. Mid-month Mercury enters Taurus and the fog lifts on communications from last month’s retrograde. The following week we enter Gemini Season and the energy picks up. Both Venus and Jupiter move into Gemini, as a full moon in Sagittarius lets us go deeper to find meaning and experience all that we can.

NEW NEWS…

Things are starting to ROCK!! A great new review in Music Connection and a cool interview in Vents Magazine were both published in the last week. Also, the song Brian Jones getting singled out in antiMusic’s popular Singled Out column, explaining how the recording came to have 7 classic Rolling Stones riffs in it. However, the BIG news this month is the release of the Rock’n’Roll 4 The Soul: Acoustic Sessions EP. These are acoustic tracks of select songs from the Rock’n’Roll 4 The Soul album. The EP showcases songs that have been stripped-down, allowing the listener a different perspective from their full-blown production on the album. Steve Holley came down to Shorefire Studios to add his special kind of percussion to some of the tracks. The focus track Think A Little Louder (Acoustic Mix) will premiere in the digital magazine Americana Highways and Americana UK has just announced it will premiere a 2^nd track, Soul’d Out (Acoustic Mix). Sha-La Music announces the release of the new Rock’n’Roll 4 The Soul: Acoustic Sessions EP by US Roots Rocker DownTown Mystic. The EP is a companion piece to the RnR 4 The Soul album, released in late February. The Acoustic Sessions will be digitally released on May 17 and distributed worldwide via The Orchard/Sony Music. The EP’s focus track, Think A Little Louder (Acoustic Mix) will premiere exclusively online via Americana Highways on May 14 with the full EP dropping at Radio the next day via Stephen’s Indie Picks.

The Acoustic Sessions contains 6 acoustic tracks, including 2 bonus tracks. Think A Little Louder, Soul’d Out and Dead End Space (from the RnR 4 The Soul album), and Eyes of The World, which didn’t make the album but became the lead single for it, all feature some of DownTown Mystic’s best vocals. Long time DTM drummer and percussion maven Steve Holley cancelled a trip to London to come down to Shorefire Studios and record cajón, bongos, maracas, and his famous tambourine, (the same one used by Ringo on We Can Work It Out and Day Tripper!) featured on Eyes of The World.

DownTown Mystic recently hooked up with Milestone Publicity in Nashville to promote the Rock’n’Roll 4 The Soul release. DownTown Mystic writer/producer Robert Allen credits Milestone PR head Mike Gowen with the idea for the Acoustic Sessions. Robert comments, “I do these kinds of mixes for sync-licensing, but it never occurred to me to release them until Mike mentioned it. Luckily, I have a great product manager at Sha-La to put together the release for me. lol” The result is an EP with stripped-down versions of songs that showcase the songwriting. These are different from the full album versions so listeners can compare the two. One of the rarities on the EP is the original full version of Think A Little Louder that has never been heard before.

One of the bonus tracks, Without A Trace, has been sync-licensed for the upcoming film Everything’s Going to Be Great starring Bryan Cranston and Allison Janney. Robert decided to do a different take on the song and says, “Since there’s a studio version in the movie, I thought this was a good chance to try out my idea.” The other bonus track, Night Time Girl, was considered for the RnR 4 The Soul album but couldn’t find a place to fit. April showers bring May flowers! If this is true than May should be wall to wall flowers because of all the rain…and it’s only been the 1^st week of the month!! Eclipse season has started and the major news is the Total Solar Eclipse in Aries on April 8. This one is being called The Great American Eclipse because this eclipse will cover the entire USA. The last time this happened was in 1776! Does that date ring a bell? There’s also the belief that this eclipse is opening a powerful portal and will be life-changing for mankind! That’s a lot to live up to, so don’t be surprised if whatever is happening in your life gets a major boost…for better or worse!!

NEW NEWS…

The Rock’n’Roll 4 The Soul album has been picking up steam since its release in February. Hooking up with Milestone Publicity in Nashville has added more media attention with an increase in some cool reviews and interviews. We’ll keep you aware of the happenings and will be posting some of them in the coming months. One of the recent happenings is an Acoustic EP will be released in conjunction with the album next month. Mixing sessions are happening as you read this. Also, new music is coming. Nashville session vet George Marinelli (Bonnie Rait & Bruce Hornsby) recently recorded guitar tracks on one of the new songs for the next album project. Stay tuned.

It’s already March and Spring is around the corner! Most of the country can’t wait for Winter to finally come to an end. Mercury will enter Aries with a New Moon in Pisces. It’s a good time for new beginnings and fresh starts. Daylight savings time begins and when the Sun enters Aries, the Spring Equinox rings in the Astrological NewYear. By the end of the month, Eclipse Season begins with a Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Libra. This eclipse will highlight the unexpected and heighten the emotions. Tread carefully during this time because eclipses can be intense and cause extra stress with unexpected endings and this one promises to deliver an extra punch.

Exciting News!! DownTown Mystic has hooked up with in-demand Boutique PR firm Milestone Publicity in Nashville to handle promotion of the Rock’n’Roll 4 The Soul album! February is already here! Where did the year go?? Time flies! Groundhog Day is the midpoint between Winter and Spring. Only 6 more weeks to the Vernal Equinox, whether the rodent saw or didn’t see his shadow. February is all about beginnings. Pluto is in Aquarius and every planet is direct as Mercury, Mars and Venus all conjunct Pluto! There’s a New Moon in Aquarius on February 9, which is the 60-year anniversary of The Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show. Now THAT was Rockin’! The next day is the Chinese New Year and the year of The Wood Dragon! Pluto in Aquarius has been big news because the last time Pluto was in Aquarius was 1798!! This is our once in a lifetime time as we finally get to experience the Age of Aquarius. Strap in and get ready to ROCK!!

NEW NEWS…

The Rock’n’Roll 4 The Soul album is out!! The release went live on all the streaming services at midnight. The day before, on Feb. 8, the album was released to Worldwide Radio. Rock’n’Roll 4 The Soul will showcase the songs that the DTM project was built on and there’s an epic post on the DownTown Blog sharing the back story to every song on the album. The Eyes of The World single was released in advance of the album to Radio on January 18 and will be officially released on February 23. Also, DTM is the subject of the JamSphere 20 Question Interview, which was just published and gets deep down into the soul of the Mystic one.

Happy 2024! January kicks in with big changes taking place in the sky. The Mercury Retrograde is over and Jupiter, the planet of Good Fortune, has also gone Direct!! From the start of the year the energy is all moving forward. A new moon in Capricorn will help with thinking creatively and when Pluto moves into Aquarius to start Aquarius Season, get ready to blast off as Uranus will go Direct a few days later. BOOM!!

NEW NEWS…

2023 will be a hard year to top. It was a rockin’ year for DownTown Mystic with the successful release of the AmeriKarma album and the Day of Reckoning single at the end of the year. DownTown Mystic looks to start 2024 by going back to where it all began with the release of the Rock’n’Roll 4 The Soul album on February 9. Also, the Eyes of The World single will be released to help with the promotion of RnR 4 The Soul. Eyes of The World was re-mixed at Shorefire Studios last month with Joe DeMaio at the board and mastered by Leon Zervos at Studios 301 in Australia. And that’s just the start of 2024!

24-7PressRelease/ — Sha-La Music announces the release of the new album Rock’n’Roll 4 The Soul by US Roots Rocker DownTown Mystic. The album will be digitally released on February 9 and distributed worldwide via The Orchard/Sony Music. The Eyes of The World single will be released in conjunction with the album and drops at Radio on January 22 via Stephen’s Indie Picks.

Rock’n’Roll 4 The Soul contains 11 tracks, including the 6 core tracks that started the DownTown Mystic project—Turn Around and Go, Lost and Found, Brian Jones, Think It Over, Soul’d Out and Think a Little Louder. Like previous releases, the album features stellar musicians, including the Hall of Fame rhythm section of The E Street Band—Max Weinberg & Garry Tallent, as well as Steve Holley & Paul Page from Ian Hunter’s Rant Band and PJ Farley & Steve Brown of Trixter.

Rock’n’Roll 4 The Soul is another strong example of the DownTown Mystic RnR Catalog. It brings the roots rocker back to where it all began. DownTown Mystic writer/producer Robert Allen remembers, “I was producing modern rockers The Discontent and started to get the urge to record my own music again. I decided to cut 6 songs with the band just to see how they would turn out.” Robert continues, “I finished 3 tracks and decided to release Lost and Found as DownTown Mystic on a Radio Industry CD Sampler. I got a call that the track was played by tastemaker Jed The Fish as his “catch of the day” on World Famous KROQ in LA. That’s how DownTown Mystic got discovered.”

2023 was a banner year for DownTown Mystic. The career-defining success of the AmeriKarma album at Radio and Streaming gained a wider audience for the artist with airplay on over 4000 stations in 36 countries. The artist also continued his sync-licensing success with a song featured on Fox TV’s popular 911:Lonestar with Rob Lowe. 2024 promises more of the same with a song in the upcoming movie Everything’s Going to Be Great starring Bryan Cranston and Allison Janney. With RnR making a comeback, this will be the year when the world gets some Rock’n’Roll 4 The Soul.

The demise of Radio as being irrelevant has been talked about for a while now, but it’s been responsible for much of DTM’s success. The amount of airplay in 2023 got the Streaming ball rolling. The hope is 2024 will see continued success at Radio with the release of the Eyes of The World single on January 22. The Day of Reckoning single released in October, was the real surprise, ending the year with airplay on over 4000 stations worldwide!!

The Holiday Season has arrived with December going ON SALE. The holidays are upon us with Sagittarius Season in motion. Neptune goes Direct early in the month and Jupiter will go Direct at the end of the month. Meanwhile, Mercury goes retrograde in the middle of the month on the same day as the new moon and just before the Winter Solstice! The perfect time for a Mercury Retrograde during one of the busiest times of the year! Well, that’s showbiz for ya, so be forewarned and plan accordingly. The good news is the retrograde ends on New Year’s Day just as we say goodbye to 2023 and hello to 2024. Happy Old Year!!

NEW NEWS…

What a rockin’ year 2023 has been! By any measure it’s been the most successful year ever for DownTown Mystic. The release of the AmeriKarma album was mostly responsible for this success. A career-defining album that brought a new audience to DTM. The year ends with the release of the single Day of Reckoning (featuring Tony Trischka) that has garnered the most Radio stations that DTM has ever had for the release of a single. We’ll expound on this more in the various categories to come, but some more news… DownTown Mystic ends the year back in Shorefire Studios finishing overdubs and mixing the 1^st single for 2024. Meanwhile, there was still one more surprise, getting picked as: Artist of The Month in JamSphere Magazine!!

We want to say THANK YOU to everyone who played a part in the success that this year brought. From the promotion people to the people who listen to the music to the people who played the music it was all for ONE and ONE for all…MANY MANY THANKS!!!

The success in 2023 started with Radio. Crystal Ann Lea from M:M Music did a great job at AAA/Non-com in the US for the AmeriKarma album, getting the most stations to ever play DTM at the format. That amount of airplay got the Streaming ball rolling. When the Day of Reckoning single was released recently, the response was through the roof! Stephen Foster/Steve’s Indie Picks did some killer promotion, getting over 4000 stations worldwide on the single!! THANK YOU Crystal Ann and Stephen!!!

The year started with a huge sync-license placement when the track No Exceptions got a 2 minute spin on Fox TV’s 911:Lonestar, playing in a scene with the show’s star Rob Lowe. Then 2023 really took off with the release of the AmeriKarma album and the reaction to it. Spotify for Artists just wrapped with DTM getting 3.2 million streams this year!! That’s 6 times more than last year, which by most metrics would constitute a “Hit”, if those exist anymore. Lol Live was the most played track.

2024 promises to be rockin’ on the Sync-Licensing front with a track being placed in the upcoming film Everything’s Going To Be Great starring Brian Cranston! A huge THANK YOU to our Sync Rep Eddie Caldwell/Music of The Sea for the film and 911:Lonestar syncs!!

November has arrived and we’re in Scorpio Season. Eclipse season has ended with Halloween but the battle between dark and light continues. For us here on planet Earth it’s a good time to really look at the things that we want like our personal goals and relationships. It’s also a good time to use the energy available to look at the things we’ve been holding onto for probably too long a time. Be it things or people that are holding us back or bringing us down, now is the time to take an honest look and decide to make some changes. There’s a new moon in the middle of the month to help us do just that. A week later the holiday season starts with the sign of Sagittarius as a full moon in Gemini appears for Thanksgiving to allow us to relax and enjoy conversations to help elevate our minds.

DownTown Mystic releases the new single DAY OF RECKONING (featuring Tony Trischka) on November 3. The single will also include WHEN THE ANGELS SING. The single was released to Radio on October 12 and has the best start for a DTM track to date. Meanwhile, DTM was featured on the “Do That Music Thing” podcast out of Nashville with host Christopher Foust. The podcast helped to kickoff DTM’s new RnR Publishing Catalog venture in Nashville with The Connector Chris Keaton. The press release for the Nashville venture was in last month’s newsletter. Sha-La Music announces the release of the new single Day of Reckoning (feat. Tony Trischka) by US Roots Rocker DownTown Mystic. The single will be digitally released on November 3 and distributed worldwide via The Orchard/Sony Music. Day of Reckoning dropped at Radio on October 12 and is already being played on over 40 stations around the world via Stephen’s Indie Picks from veteran promo man Stephen Foster.

The Day of Reckoning single contains 2 tracks, the Radio Edit version and the solemn acoustic track When The Angels Sing. Both tracks are from DownTown Mystic’s highly successful album, AmeriKarma, released earlier this year. The single was created for the radio release by editing the intro track that appears only on the CD with the album track. The initial reaction from Radio has been the best yet for a DownTown Mystic release.

Day of Reckoning features banjo virtuoso Tony Trischka, one of the preeminent banjo players in the world, along with the ace rhythm section of Steve Holley (Paul McCartney, Elton John) on drums and Paul Page (Ian Hunter, Dion) on bass. The song was co-written by the ever-talented Jay Friedman, from bluegrass/americana band Blue Plate Special. Jay also adds harmony vocals on the track, having appeared as one of The Oohlets singing the distinctive “oohs” on DTM’s previous single Live.

Day of Reckoning takes a tongue-in-cheek look at getting ready for Judgement Day. DownTown Mystic writer/producer Robert Allen comments, “I felt that Day of Reckoning was the centerpiece track on AmeriKarma because the album was looking at what we were doing and feeling during the Covid pandemic. I think many of us were looking at our lives in ways we probably hadn’t done before. With all the uncertainty and people dying from the pandemic, it felt like Judgement Day was just around the corner.”

Along with success at Radio, having been played on over 5000 stations in 44 countries, DownTown Mystic has become one of the top sync-licensed indie artists in the world with over 240 TV shows and films to his credit. The artist will have a song in the upcoming movie Everything’s Going to Be Great starring Bryan Cranston and Allison Janney. Rocktober has arrived! It’s a RnR kind of month but we’ll get into that later. Actually, the skies are rockin’ in October. The 1^st New Moon eclipse in Libra comes mid-month and delivers a punch to see if we can take it. Long term goals are an issue and it comes down to our character and integrity. Can we take it to the limit? We might find out a week later when Scorpio Season arrives with the annual portal that allows us to see behind the mirrors. There’s a Full Moon eclipse in Taurus at the end the month to help us to find what needs to be done.

Vacation is over and Summer 2023 is in the rearview mirror. September has arrived and that means the start of SCHOOL! At least it used to mean that. Since Covid nothing’s been the same, especially School, which now starts in August for many students. August ended on a Super Blue Moon, the 1^st one since January 2018. September begins with the planet Venus going direct and the Mercury Retrograde ending mid-month, a week before the Autumnal Equinox. There’s still 6 planets in retrograde, so things might not be running as smoothly as we would like, but that’s showbiz. LOL

NEW NEWS…

DownTown Mystic is appearing in Relix Magazine for the 3^rd straight month.with LIVE on the Digital Sampler. NO EXCEPTIONS (Leon Zervos Remaster) appeared on both the Relix Artist CD & Digital Samplers in August. Meanwhile, the DownTown Mystic RnR Catalog will be introduced to the good folks in Nashville. A press release will go out to the Nashville Music Industry in mid-September with an announcement that DTM is joining forces with The Connector Chris Keaton, who will be representing the DTM Catalog in Nashville. Time to ROCK!!

August was a good month to stop and take stock of what’s been accomplished this year with the success of the AmeriKarma album. Amazingly, DownTown Mystic has been played on over 5000 radio stations in 44 countries! That’s a crazy sounding but very true statistic. It didn’t all happen at once. But that’s how many stations have played the music of DownTown Mystic for their listeners. They say that Radio is dying but we’re very grateful for our success there. For those musicians who are bummed that their local station isn’t playing their record, just remember, it’s a big world out there with plenty of stations who will play it! DownTown Mystic is living proof.

July is here and Summer 2023 has gotten off to a bit of a rocky start, thanks in part to the wildfires in Canada that have been affecting the air quality here in the northeast part of the USA. The air quality in NYC has been rated the worst in the WORLD!!! The month starts with a Full Moon in Capricorn that will remind us of our responsibilities and what happens when we ignore them. Mid-month there’s a new moon in Cancer as the North Node enters Aries while the South Node enters Libra. Both stay until January 2025. This energy will be emotionally charged but is also good for our intuition. This time period will give us a peek into the next year and a half, so make the most of it for thinking about new projects that can give us more freedom.

NEW NEWS…

This month DownTown Mystic will be appearing in Relix Magazine with 2 songs on the Relix Samplers. Shadow Walk is part of the June Relix Artist Digital Sampler and then No Exceptions (Leon Zervos Remaster) will appear on both the July Relix Artist CD Sampler as well as the July Digital Sampler. Meanwhile, the thoughts are shifting to the next DTM album. There were some songs held off of AmeriKarma that will now get full attention, plus some new songs that need to be finished. Also, need to check with the schedules of some of DTM’s fave musicians. With the Covid Pandemic hitting the skids, people are getting busy again, which is always a good thing!

June is here and 2023 is almost half over! It’s a time for Celebrations and parties like Graduations and the end of school as the Summer Solstice draws upon us in a matter of weeks and the start of Summer. Right now in the skies there’s going to be a Full Moon as the month gets underway. But there’s a bigger happening that’s going on. Jupiter is crossing the Moon’s North Node! What you say?? Let our good bud Monte Farber, The Celestial Mechanic, explain: “In my first book/card deck oracle, KARMA CARDS, I used the North Node to mean Yes, go for it, and the South Node to mean No, don’t do it. So Jupiter, which is the planet symbolizing growth and expansion, passing over the Yes, go for it point could be sweet, right? Be thankful for what you have. It’s kind of magical that if you want what it is that you have, you immediately have what you want and THAT is the energy you want to expand in your life.” How beautiful is that? The man has a way with words. The conjunction of Jupiter and the North Node is a time of accelerated Abundance and Growth. Whatever you’re doing or want to do, the signs say GO FOR IT!!!

NEW NEWS…

The AmeriKarma album is quite the success and we couldn’t be happier! It’s not very often things come together in such a way that makes you shake your head and say “How did that happen??” LOL We’re celebrating that success and making sure to be grateful for it because there is a lot to be grateful for and we’re very thankful for all the people who’ve been involved. That’s really what has made this so special. From the studio, to creating and releasing the project, to the promotion of it. Speaking of which, we’re moving into Phase II of the promotion process. The rocker Shadow Walk will be on the Relix June Digital Sampler. We’re looking forward to that! Also, DownTown Mystic is a Featured Artist for the 1^st week of June on the M:M Music Listening Page.

April is here with Aries season going full tilt. The 1^st week opens with a Full Moon in Libra as Easter and Passover occur. It’s time for a spring cleaning. Let go of everything no longer of use in your life and get set for the New Moon Solar Eclipse coming in a couple of weeks. That will be a powerful time when we can set our intentions for what we want to bring forth this year. Right after the eclipse, Mercury goes retrograde as the Sun enters Taurus. Expect the usual delays with the retrograde. Just remember to take things slow for a few weeks.

NEW NEWS…

The LIVE single was released to Radio in Europe last week ahead of the AmeriKarma album release. The AmeriKarma album will be officially released on April 7. Check out the press release below for the details.

Sha-La Music Inc. announces the release of the new AmeriKarma album by US Roots Rocker DownTown Mystic. The AmeriKarma CD will be released on March 24 and made available by CD Baby. The album will be digitally released on April 7 and distributed worldwide via The Orchard/Sony Music. AmeriKarma was dropped at Radio on the Play MPE digital platform March 9 and is being promoted by Indie promo Queenpins M:M Music. The promotion campaign to coincide with the release is being handled by PR firm Working Brilliantly.

The AmeriKarma CD contains 12 tracks, including 2 bonus tracks previously digital-only releases, while the Digital release contains 11 tracks that include 2 bonus tracks available for the first time on digital. There have been 3 singles released to help build awareness for the album starting with Fly in August, Superstar in October and the current single Live in January. The singles have combined for radio airplay on over 200 stations in 30 countries.

AmeriKarma features the ace rhythm section of Steve Holley (Paul McCartney, Elton John) on drums, plus adding harmony vocals, and Paul Page (Ian Hunter, Dion) on bass. DTM adds another impressive list of high-end musicians into the mix, including Banjo Maestro Tony Trischka, to create an album that is as varied as the artist has ever recorded. DownTown Mystic writer/producer Robert Allen observes, “I really went all out on the production of AmeriKarma in a way that I’ve never done before. I tried to tap into all the influences I’ve picked up as a fan of the music and make them accessible on this album. I feel like the Quentin Tarantino of Rock ‘n’ Roll.”

AmeriKarma was recorded at the legendary Shorefire Studios in Long Branch, NJ under the auspices of Joe DeMaio, who engineered and also added his talents on some key guitar solos. The album was mastered by the legend, Leon Zervos (Crowded House, Maroon 5, Pink, Rihanna) at Studios 301 in Australia, who helped give the album his special sonic boost.

AmeriKarma is the 9th album released by DownTown Mystic, who has become one of the top sync-licensed artists in the world with over 230 TV shows and films containing DTM music. As a sign of good luck, the album’s final track No Exceptions was featured on one of Fox TV’s most popular shows, 9-1-1: Lone Star starring Rob Lowe on January 31.
